Cab Rides
A cab pass gives passengers the unique and exciting opportunity to ride with the engineer in the locomotive cab. This exclusive VIP experience offers a firsthand look at how the engineer operates and drives the locomotive.
Important Info
Passengers riding in the cab must be at least 10 years of age. Cab Riders under 18 years of age MUST be accompanied by an adult 21 or older.
Cab rides are offered at the discretion of the engineer on duty. Please inquire at the ticket office for availability the date of your visit. Cab rides trips are one-way only. A Cab Ride requires a separate purchase in addition to a standard passenger fare ticket. Add the Locomotive Cab Experience to your ride for $70.
Your safety and the safety of all passengers and crew aboard the train is our number one priority.
The locomotive cab is not ADA-accessible.
Cab Rider must be able to stand, walk, sit and climb stairs and ladders without assistance and without the aid of an assisting device.
No self-contained breathing equipment (oxygen) or service animals.
Climbing into the cab requires strength, balance, and agility using both arms and both legs. Stairs are open metal ladders. Steel decking surfaces may be slippery or uneven. The sensation of motion within the locomotive cab is different than aboard a passenger rail car.
All riders must wear proper clothing
Full-length slacks or jeans are required (shorts, skirts, and tank tops are not permitted).
Closed toed shoes are required. No open-toed shoes (sandals, flip flops, etc.) or high heels.
Our engine crew’s primary responsibility is to operate the train safely and efficiently. While engineers and conductors are free to converse with you at their discretion, there are important duties they must attend to, without becoming distracted. Riders must carefully and completely follow all instructions from the engine crew. Failure to do so will force the crew to stop the train and remove the cab rider from the locomotive cab without exception.
Riders may find space in the locomotive compact and confining. Diesel fuel, wood-burning smell and exhaust fumes, horns, bells, and mechanical noises are part of the sensory experience riders must be prepared for.
CAB RIDER MUST ARRIVE AT LEAST 30 MINUTES PRIOR TO THE SCHEDULED DEPARTURE TIME.
All terms, conditions and fares are subject to change without liability and notice.
